F: I guess we should start by saying it was my idea, and my idea alone.
P: The ravings of a lunatic: as poet/philosopher Noel Gallagher once said, "we are all standing on the shoulder of giants".
F P: I dare you to hate my shoulders.
F: Heretofore, ipso-facto, shoulders being connected and whatnot to arms-wrists-and-eventually-hands, it could be said that The Guidonian Hands are standing on the unspoken hatred of giant shoulders.
P: The Guidonian Hands represent a new form of collaboration wherein the goalposts are constantly moving, and the players’ hands are tied behind their backs (playfully).
F: Much like Exquisite Corpse, aka Cadavre Exquis, Guidonian Hand is a turn-taking songwriting challenge, and the name Guidonian Hand refers to (Insert historical info on Guidonian Hand singing technique here).
P: Have you ever watched two people repeatedly kick each other in the ol' breadbasket?
F: Have you ever eaten deviled eggs in the pale moonlight?
P: Have you ever heard of Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies?
F: Yes, and... I have also heard of Second City's Complete Improvisation Program.
P: Del Close would be proud; The Guidonian Hand gives players the chance to build upon previous players' contributions in a democratic yet anarcho-syndicalist round-robin style.
F: Moreover, heretofore, and hencewith, players can choose to build on the prior move to advance the previous player's vision for the tune, or they can sabotage/take the song in a new direction/nude erection.
P: Other decisions such as mixing and titling were made using similar arcane and hilarious methods.
F: Even these very liner notes involved micromanagerial Guidonian canoodling, and that brings us to the Interoffice Envelope filled with irregular slips of paper.
P F: No idea was too ridiculous, and nothing was more ridiculous than the "living" constitution that we composed to codify all the obtuse restrictions we imposed on ourselves - all of it to make each other laugh, though more often than not, the joke was on one's self.
P: And now, dear listener, you are invited to laugh along as we present the fruits (and vegetables) of our labour.
